When choosing a rod, consider where it is you are going to be fishing- close to shore, in the middle of a lake or a river? This will usually determine the length of the rod that you will need. If you are in the middle of a lake you will need a longer fishing rod to cast further. Another factor is sensitivity. The deeper the water, the higher sensivity you will want. One factor that affects sensitivity is the construction of the handle and the other is the material of the shaft. Most handles are made of cork or foam.
